JANUARY
I was introduced to a ministry I'm now very passionate about. An acquaintance of mine is a freelance writer, and she did a project with them... [link] They are a group of young artists passionate about being a catalyst for good in the world. Keeping in touch with them over their first project "Dear World" has been so very inspirational for me.
excerpt about "Dear World" from their website...
"Revolutionary Media's new book! Meant to be an artistic resource manual for Churches and Christians alike, Dear World is complete with portraits of the street, bio's of current street kids, devotionals, and dozens of ways you can get involved in outreach to the street community.
Readers will close Dear World inspired to affect the deep rooted and heartbreaking issues affecting the street community. "
I've seen excerpts of the spreads, and they are phenomenal. Its coming out very soon, and I am thrilled. This ministry, and the people involved have been some of my biggest inspiration over 2008.
FEBRUARY
I was in a production of Julius Caesar with my brother Jesse, and as he was my ride, I was with him at a casting call for a commercial before rehearsal... I was waiting for him, and met a fellow photographer - Inga. We got talking, and she offered to get me an interview for second shooting with a studio she worked for, and we exchanged info. Inga has come to be one of my best friends and most valued second opinions on photography and business ideas.
I also went to Mississippi for a wedding, and took many pictures.
MARCH
In March, my mom volunteered me to take photos of a friends family reunion. While at the time I was not happy with her for committing me without my consent, and I had other places that I really wanted to be, it ended up being a very big blessing. I took a lot of family and group photos, and met some awesome people. A sampling from that is here:

APRIL
In April I interviewed with the studio Inga (see February) works for. I met George Phelps, and we had an immediate connection, mostly over creative ambition. He was willing to help fill in some technical knowledge that I had missed, and I was definitely willing and thrilled to learn.
MAY
In May I made a return trip to Boston with my Mom, Dad, and exBF. Because exBF hadn't seen all the historical sites, (and my mother thought he definitely needed to...) we didn't stop at the amazing looking Couture shop that I had spied near Boston Commons, but that story is for another day.
JUNE
In June I roadtripped across the country to Idaho (in three days) with Mom and exBF... I took a lot of scenery/out-the-window photos that I still need to go through at some point, but the main photoshoot I did there was with Mary... [link]
I was home in time to shoot the biggest wedding ever with the studio. I got to the studio at 11, and crashed at Ingas at about 2:30 am. It was a long day, I took a lot of pictures, and I just realized that was my first second-shooting experience. lol.
JULY
In July, Inga got married, and George (from the studio) and I took pictures. It was a lot of fun, and very special to be there.
AUGUST
In August I second shot for another photographer friend of mine. These are a part of my portfolio, which I'm very grateful to Ben and the couple for allowing.

SEPTEMBER
In September I found a way to put together a semi-professional looking website. I'm actually now in the middle of transitioning to yet another kind of site, but [link] has been awesome for me, and I can't wait to take it to the next level.
OCTOBER
October was by far my busiest month in 2008. I shot two weddings for my own business, did Bridget and Jons engagement session, and did another portrait session with Leah.

NOVEMBER
In November two of my bestest friends from Mississippi came to visit me... I had much fun with Zak and Chelsey, and some of my favorite recent photos came from when they were here. [link]
DECEMBER
I visited a couple friends of mine who were having an open house... They have been a huge inspiration to me. They run [link] which is a retail business that sells items made by former slaves in Cambodia, Kenya, and Thailand. They work through [link] a fair amount... They recommended I read "Not For Sale" by David Batstone, and when I did I got even more serious about finding ways to begin working on documentary photography.
I also watched August Rush, at the glowing recommendation of a couple of friends, and was blown away. Its one of my top favorite inspirational movies now in...every way.
and... that was my year. So much has happened just in the past two months of 2009... but I'll save that for later.
